Services Overview
WatchCaptain is primarily an information services company with expertise in business process optimization for marine services companies. A large component of what we do is software but we stress the deep understanding of marine businesses we have accumulated over the years and the relationships we have with top companies in the marine field. One hundred percent of our customers are marine services companies.
While other vendors may provide a software installation and training, we start with an analysis of a client's current processes before we install any software. WatchCaptain recognizes that implementing a new software system for any shipyard or boat dealer, large or small, is a complex task. Management processes that have served well over the years may not necessarily be the best approach under a new automated information system. As a result, workflow analysis is often revisited prior to an implementation of a WatchCaptain system and we work with our clients in redefining necessary steps that will improve the overall business.
Due to the unique business processes of our various clients, the implementation process is broken into five phases detailed in a mutually agreed upon Statement of Work document. This allows us to use a structured implementation and deployment methodology while balancing that structure with the special requirements of our customers.
The five phases of our implementations are:
Phase 1:
Requirements - Strategy Session This phase consists of analyzing a client's business needs for a new marine management solution and the related business processes involved. We identify which servers/workstations need to have the software installed and we review any and all requirements for data conversion and data mapping. |
Phase 2:
Configuration and Data Mapping This phase encompasses the planning and configuration of the WatchCaptain solution as well as data conversion from existing systems. The new system is installed in a test configuration with the data mapped and converted from the old systems. |
Phase 3:
Rehearsal and Acceptance Testing This phase requires acceptance testing of and sign-off on successful usage of product per agreed upon detailed requirements. Clients validate the installation and data mapping based on agreed upon requirements for data conversion. |
Phase 4:
Live Implementation and Training This phase consists of the implementation of the new WatchCaptain system in a production environment with the use of live data. Upon completion of installation, product training will commence. |
Phase 5:
Project Completion and Sign-Off This phase consists of ensuring all aspects of product have been implemented based upon a mutually agreed upon Statement of Work. |
In addition, WatchCaptain provides on-going consulting services to clients with needs to improve efficiencies in certain specific areas.
